Every entry has a note explaining what it's good for and when it's worth your time, because a bare list of links helps nobody. Anything I couldn't verify is left unlinked rather than guessed at. If you're working through the chronological companion playlist, the genre maps below are the fastest way to hear how the subgenres split apart, and the community and radio entries are where most of the ongoing conversation about Trance actually happens.

Armin van Buuren's weekly show, and the closest thing the genre has to a paper of record.
- Group Therapy
Above & Beyond's show, and the reason plenty of people found the melodic side of the genre. Search for it on your usual podcast app.
- Resonation Radio
Ferry Corsten's weekly show. Current episodes turn up on the major streaming and podcast platforms.

Rooms where the music still gets tested at full scale.
- A State of Trance Festival
The annual flagship event, and the one most of the calendar bends around.
- Dreamstate
The North American Trance-focused festival.
- Luminosity
Dutch beach and festival events with a classics-heavy programme.
- Transmission
Arena production built around a single narrative each year.
- Tomorrowland
Not a Trance festival, but its stages have carried a lot of this music to people who'd never have gone looking.
- Indian Spirit
A German psytrance festival with a long history and a loyal crowd.
